Margarita was born and raised in Puerto Rico, the island that lived in her heart even after moving stateside to Florida about 40 years ago. She met her husband Murell William “Bill” Markus, the love of her life, while he was stationed at the Ramey army base in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Together they lived a happy and full life for almost 60 years of marriage, despite the heartbreak of losing their son David to cancer when he was in his 20s. Margarita was a happy and always grateful soul who delighted in being with family, traveling, and socializing. She never forgot a birthday and had the most amazing memory until her final day on this Earth.
Margarita was a devout Catholic and always put her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. In her 90s, she signed up for a church trip to Israel and realized her lifelong dream of visiting the Holy Land which she did on her own, with no family members attending.
Her wisdom, infectious laughter, and love of life will be sorely missed by all those closest to her. We pray that she has already been reunited with her loving husband and son.
In addition to her children Richard, Janice, and Beverly, she is survived by her grandchildren Gloria, (great-grandchildren Samantha & Andrew), Rich (great-grandchildren Kayla, Jake, & Catie), Bryan (granddaughter Gabrielle), Francheska, Monik, Christina (great-grandchildren Colin & Emma), Melanie, Frances, Keyla (grandchildren Brandon, Eren, & Leah), Amber, & Kimberly.
