Obituary of Theodore Albert Gitzke, Jr.

Theodore Albert Gitzke, Jr. "Ted", age 74, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2021. Ted was born May 28, 1947. Ted was born in Chicago, Illinois to Theodore and Evelyn Gitzke on May 28th, 1947. He attended high school at McHenry, IL and graduated in 1966. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from DeVry University. Ted worked for AT&T, following in his father's footsteps for 30+ years. Ted enjoyed fishing, family, and his greatest joy was writing children's books. He was a storyteller and songwriter, and authored many books. Two of his favorites were "Pop Pop's Pond" and "Russ the Hippopotamus" which are fun and educational stories, both inspired by his grandchildren. Ted is survived by his wife, Lynn Gitzke of New Port Richey and daughters Kari Gitzke of New Jersey and Tracey McClendon and son-in-law Ross McClendon of St. Petersburg, FL, along with brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Ann Gitzke of Sanford, FL. He is survived by grandchildren Amanda, Alexandra, Lee, McKenzie, Tristan, Ross Jr., Gage and numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Theodore Albert Gitzke, Sr., father, and Evelyn Constance Gitzke, mother; and Bonnie Jedlicka, sister. Morgan Funeral Home, New Port Richey, Florida will be handling the arrangements, but there are no services scheduled.
