Mr. Eleuterio “Terry” Medoza Sangalang, son of the late Eulogio Sangalang and Petra Mendoza Sangalang was born on February 20, 1933 in Santa Rita, Pampanga, Philippines. He was united in holy matrimony to Cecilia Cruz in Quezon City, Philippines on June 22, 1953. This union was blessed with five children. Eleuterio received his Bachelor of Laws degree from Manuel L. Quezon University in Quezon City, Philippines. Due to changes in politics, he moved to Queens, NY in 1967 to work as a case interviewer with the New York Department of Social Services. During this time, he sent money and supplies home to his family in the Philippines, who later joined him in New York in 1978. Eleuterio and Cecilia later established a home in Hazlet, NJ, and, after many years of working, moved to Holiday, FL in 1996 to retire and enjoy the warm weather. He enjoyed cooking his native Filipino delicacies for family and friends, tending to his beloved mango trees in the backyard, and playing marathon rounds of mahjong. Eleuterio was a popular and gregarious man, known for his generous and hearty laugh. A lifelong NY Mets fan, he loved conversing with friends new and old, and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. Eleuterio quietly departed this life on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at the Medical Center of Trinity in Trinity, FL. He was surrounded both physically and virtually by many who love him dearly. Eleuterio was preceded in death by four of his eight siblings: Primo Sangalang, Tomasa Sangalang Sarao, Venencio Sangalang, and Francisco Sangalang. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his six children: Rosemarie (Rodolfo) Dy of Tarpon Springs, FL; Alex (Aurelia) of Hazlet, NJ; Romerico (Maria Pilar) of Kissimmee, FL; Rostum (Francia) of Oakdale, NY; Eleuterio, Jr. (Kymberly) of Holiday, FL; and Edward (Joyce) of New York, NY; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four surviving siblings: Juanita Sangalang Liao, Mae Sangalang de la Paz, Aniano Sangalng, and Luz Sangalang Mallari; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held at Morgan Funeral Home on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 4:00-8:00PM. Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10:00AM.
