Obituary of Thomas Richard Gibbons

Thomas Richard Gibbons of Hudson, Florida passed on May 22,2021. Thomas "TRiG" was born December 23, 1942, to John Francis and Dorothy Marie (LaPlue) Gibbons. He was survived by his brother William Thomas Gibbons and five children: Michelle Jo Gibbons, Richard Patrick (April) Gibbons, Lemae Marie (Elwood) Hommel, Michael Thomas (Erica) Gibbons, and Jennie Linn Harris. Thomas also left behind seven grandchildren: Kamryn, Thomas, Timothy, Elizabeth, Draken, Isabella, and Allison. Thomas was a plank owner of the USS Enterprise on 11/25/1961. He was part of the teen cruise and was able to join the NAVY when he was 17. While on the Enterprise Thomas was a radioman and enjoyed boxing. After serving his tour he returned to his love of hunting, fishing, camping and telling stories around a campfire. He worked as an electrician for the IBEW Local 58. He also bred tropical fish and labrador retrievers. Thomas was a huge fan of the Red Wings and he loved to play board games and cards, a visit with Thomas usually included a game of euchre. A celebration of his life will be held at the dead end of S. Whirlpool Rd., on the AuSable River, in Grayling, Michigan on May 21,2022 at 2 pm.
