Obituary of Cindy Mott

Please share a memory of Cindy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Thursday, March 11, 2021, Cindy Welch Mott, loving wife of Jerry Mott and mother of 8 children passed away at age 63 at her home in Holiday, Florida. Cindy was born on August 9, 1957 in Woodruff, Wisconsin and lived for a time in St. Germaine, Wisconsin before moving to Florida. She is survived by her husband and soul mate, Jerry Mott, whom she married in 1994, as well as her two daughters, Angelia French and Minta Johnson, and her 6 step-children Marilyn Mott, Bobby Mott, Kimberly White, Samantha Giangrande, Jerry Mott II, and Amanda Mott-Wilburn. Cindy was a remarkable woman with many passions. She loved going on cruises, spending time with her family and pets, biking, sitting on her front porch with her beautiful collection of wind chimes, and just enjoying the beauty of the world that surrounded her. She had a poetic and compassionate soul and would gladly listen to others and offer support. Some of the best examples of the warmth of her heart are her much-loved Facebook posts. Instead of adding to the turmoil in our world right now through bitterness and apathy, Cindy chose to spread the love and compassion in her heart to everyone by making a nightly post on the social media website. Sometimes it was a beautiful or inspirational quote or simply wishing all in her life a good night, but it brought joy to everyone who saw it and we will all miss those warm and beautiful reminders of what a wonderful woman, wife, and mother Cindy was. One of the many things that brought joy to Cindy's life was spending time with her large family. Having raised two daughters with her previous husband, she likely believed that motherhood was behind her. However, in 1994, while working for The St. Petersburg Times, she met and fell in love with Jerry Mott and took on the Herculean task of raising 6 more children but she handled it well and at times with great humor. She became quite familiar with each of the six of us running up to her inquiring what she was making for dinner and, on one such occasion, when she was making homemade pizza, understandably annoyed at us for constantly bombarding her with this very important question, she replied that she was making "googlioni." A silly, nonsensical word meant to confound the ravenous children surrounding her became an inside joke in our family. It's memories like these that will we will cherish and keep in our hearts forever and we know given her warmth, compassion, and her sense of humor that everyone that has ever met her has their own unique memories that will fill that special place in their heart that Cindy occupied while on this earth and in that way she will always be with us.
