Obituary of David Charles Blood

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Charles Blood, 57, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 30, 2020. Born April 15, 1963, to Duward F. and Ramona J. (Welburn) Blood in Three Rivers, MI, David was preceded in death by both of his parents in 1988 and 2017, respectively. David spent the last several years fighting a most courageous battle with cancer. There was no one stronger nor braver in the face of that ugly disease as it wreaked havoc on his body, but never his spirit. His ability to remain upbeat and determined even under the worst of conditions and setbacks are what epitomized his mantra, “BLOODTOUGH.” David was always outgoing and gregarious. He was renowned for “never meeting a stranger,” and his love of storytelling, woodworking, hunting, fishing, handywork and anything outdoors related. He had an insatiable hunger to explore all that life had to offer. There was always an adventure waiting around every bend and down every country road. David was a wealth of knowledge on many subjects. He was well versed in wildlife, biology, design, and anything environmental or nature related. He also loved food and testing his palate. His culinary skills earned him the title of “Chef Daveed.” Many believed he could turn a bucket of dirt into a 5-star gourmet meal fit for royalty, and he seldom followed a recipe. As with all his endeavors, if David was going to do something, he did it well and immersed himself wholly into it. He believed that anything worth doing was worth doing right. Back in 9th grade, David fell in love with his sweetheart, Nancy Ann Fuller. Although life took them in separate directions for quite some time, 35 years later, on October 20, 2013, their destined love became official and they married in Easley, SC, in the presence of family and friends. David loved many things, but nothing as much as his sweet “Nancy Ann.” David was a patriot and a veteran, having proudly served in the U.S. Navy from May 1980 through August 1991. He worked in several capacities for the Florida Wildlife Commission, as well as the Florida Department of Corrections and several other agencies. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Nancy Ann (Fuller), sons Dustin L. Wren of Fayette City, PA and Joshua S. Blood of Tallahassee, FL, and bonus daughters Brittany C. Brown of Rockwall, TX and Olivia G. Brown of New Port Richey, FL. He is also survived by his brother Glenn D. (Mary Ellen) Blood of Emery, TX, brother Gary L. (Linda) Blood of Three Rivers, MI, and sister Debra J. (Leslie Rayfield) Blood of Easley, SC, as well as five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also, David will be profoundly missed by his faithful and loving golden retriever, Cali, often referred to as “Agnes.” David will always be remembered as the guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He was quick-witted, had a ready grin, an infectious laugh and was known especially for his unapologetic candor. David was never afraid to “tell you like it was.” He was a true friend, a good father, a sweet brother, and a devoted husband. Few will ever truly know the countless hours and many years he devoted to protecting and restoring the wild Florida he loved so well. He was instrumental in so many protections now in place and still yet to be implemented for which he never sought recognition. His legacy will always be the impact he had on the many lives he touched. David wished to be cremated. A Military Funeral Honors Ceremony will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, November 17th at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue Bushnell, FL.
